These are the speakers currently scheduled for 2025:
April 15, 2025 - This month’s speaker at the Monthly Meeting will be Walter Murphy, a member of The
Activities Club since 2009. He has been the long-standing consultant of our Genealogy
Group and the immediate past president of the Cape Cod Genealogical Society. He will
present a seminar he has presented to libraries and other groups. He will also lead a
Genealogy Group meeting that will take place immediately after the Monthly Meeting in
the Parlor, which is directly across the hallway from Fellowship Hall. All Club members
are invited to find out more about how to pursue research on their family tree. The
Monthly Meeting will take place as usual starting at 1:00 PM on Tuesday April 15th in
the GR Community Church Fellowship Hall with Chris’ Coffee and Cookies, followed by
Walter Murphy at 1:30.
March 18, 2025 - This month’s meeting will feature speakers Denis Niland and Brian Downing of the Bergen County
Office of Consumer Affairs. They are Consumer Protection Investigators at the Department of Law &
Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs. In January, they presented “Protecting Yourself in
the Retail World.” This month, they will be presenting the second of their Consumer Protection
topics: “Scams & Frauds: Staying Alert.” This will include traditional scams and trending scams.
They will discuss imposter, romance, gift card, and Al scams. In addition, getting scammed with
online purchases, fake ads and phishing. How to protect your property and what to watch out for
regarding skimming devices. Also, how to protect your identity and what to do if you believe you
are a victim of identity theft. The meeting starts in Fellowship Hall at the GR Community Church
at 1:00 PM with Chris’ coffee and cookies, followed by the speakers at 1:30.
February 18, 2025 - February’s Monthly Meeting speaker will be Club member Ron Greenberg, whose presentation will be about Tomorrow’s Entertainment.
In contrast to today’s couch potato style, entertainment will be participatory and immersive. Ron will show you how it will be made and how it
will be experienced. Also, meet our brand new Coffee Steward. That’s Tuesday February 18th, coffee starting at 1:00 PM and speaker at 1:30 PM
in Fellowship Hall at GR Community Church.
January 21, 2025 - This month's meeting will feature speaker Denis Niland, who is a Consumer Protection Investigator at the Department of Law & Public Safety,

and how the laws protect you. Topics include: How long are gift cards good for? What to watch out for when buying a vehicle, getting a car repaired, hiring
a home improvement contractor. Additional topics include: refund issues, credit card surcharges, movers, Predatory Towing Prevention Act and purchasing
products online. He also discusses contracts and how Consumer Affairs can help you if you have a problem, and the kind of cases they handle.
The meeting starts at 1:00 PM with meet-up and coffee on Tuesday January 21st in Fellowship Hall at the GR Community Church. Mr. Niland's presentation starts at 1:30 PM. Bring your consumer protection questions.

November 19, 2024 - This month’s meeting will feature as speaker Dr. Richard Baum, Urologist, who has spoken to us very interestingly in the past. Dr. Baum has
been Chief Resident in Urology at Bellevue Hospital, Manhattan Veteran’s Administration Hospital and New York University Hospital, and has served as the Associate Director of the Department of
Urology at The Valley Hospital. In 2015 Dr. Baum received an award recognizing his commitment to quality, continuous improvement, leadership and patient satisfaction in health care from The Medical
Society of New Jersey.
October 15, 2024 - Club member Bob Bourne will regale us with exciting tales and scenes of his recent experience on an around-the-world cruise with Holland America Cruise Line.
Bob really knows how to tell a story, so you won’t want to miss it! That’s Tuesday October 15 in the Fellowship Hall at the Glen Rock Community Church.
The meeting starts at 1:00 PM with mingle-and-eat at Harry’s Café. The speaker starts at 1:30 PM.
